CO2Vision Spin-in
Facilitated matchmaking between startups and established companies is accelerating CCUS development and implementation
“Spin-in” is an open innovation activity within the CO2Vision project that establishes and facilitates innovation partnerships between startups and established companies—known as “grown-ups”—to create real-world impact.
The goal is to drive innovation and growth for both startups and established companies through the integration of startup technology into established companies, with a view to developing new technologies, business models, and partnerships within CCUS.
Spin-in is built on Business Aalborg’s tested and validated accelerator program, Spin-in Igniter, which is based on an impartial and effective open innovation method for technology adaptation.
This initiative facilitates networking among companies, projects, consortium partners, and relevant ecosystem stakeholders with the aim of:
- Launching co-creation projects to test and demonstrate CCUS technologies
- Feedback from the industry
- Building relationships as a foundation for future project partnerships
- General Validation and Acceleration
As a participant in CO2Vision Spin-in, the program facilitates connections to relevant networks through a screening meeting.
CO2Vision is EU-funded, and startup participation has a nominal value of 500 DKK, which participants confirm with a de minimis declaration.
Spin-in is a strategic management initiative in which collaboration with startups boosts your innovation capacity and ensures continued competitiveness. The Spin-in initiative facilitates networking with startups developing CCUS technologies and:
- Provides access to the latest knowledge in the field of CCUS and highlights the potential applications of the various technologies in your company
- Launch an innovation process to strengthen your entire business
- Proposes concrete solutions when defining a company-specific case challenge.
As an established company in the CO2Vision Spin-in program, you will be introduced to relevant startups at an introductory meeting, after which any next steps will be agreed upon by both parties.

CataCycle
CataCycle is a Danish deep-tech pre-startup based at the University of Copenhagen that converts post-consumer PET bottle waste into food-grade recycled PET through a proprietary CO2-promoted depolymerization process. Whereas mechanical recycling degrades plastic with each cycle, CataCycle’s process breaks PET down into its molecular building blocks, producing a monomer that is chemically identical to virgin material. We replace toxic metal catalysts with CO2, a food-safe compound, achieving 90% monomer recovery from real mixed-waste feedstock with a 47% lower carbon footprint than virgin PET.
