Following the announcement by the Danish Business Development Board, Erhvervsfyrtårn Nord, CO2Vision, is inviting applications.
Business Beacon North
Northern Jutland aims to be an international pioneer region for the green industries of the future and to show the world the significant climate benefits as well as the substantial growth and employment opportunities that can be realized by further developing, integrating, applying, and exporting new green technologies, including by leveraging digital solutions and establishing the necessary infrastructure.
The goal is to capture, reuse, or store CO2 rather than emit it, and to produce the green fuels of the future and other products using captured CO2 and hydrogen. CO2Vision aims to expand and further develop its innovation portfolio and create commercially viable technologies. In particular, projects focused on the development and demonstration of CCUS technologies that enable a larger proportion of the CO2 emitted by industry and biogas plants, etc. in North Jutland is used in combination with hydrogen—supplied by a growing number of energy parks spread throughout the region—to produce new fuels for airplanes, ships, and trucks, as well as for use in building materials.
General Information About Phase III
Budget:
275 million Danish kroner, for which the eight Business Lighthouses are competing.
Funding
The total application is eligible to receive a maximum of 63% in funding for project-related costs.
The total application is eligible to receive a maximum of 50 million DKK in funding.
Only payroll costs are eligible for funding, along with a 40% overhead surcharge.
Application deadline:
June 1 at 11:59 p.m. for project proposals to Energy Cluster Denmark.
August 7 at 12:00 p.m. for applications to the Danish Business Authority (Energy Cluster Denmark is responsible for this).
Decision
Mid-to-late June 2025 regarding whether project proposals will be included in applications to the Danish Business Authority.
Q4 2025–Q1 2026 regarding the decision on “Erhvervsfyrtårn” applications submitted to the Danish Business Authority.
Grants may be awarded to innovation projects that fall within the aforementioned academic framework. The project period is up to 3 years, with the project concluding no later than 31/12/2028. Potential applicants include public and private entities, such as small, medium, and large enterprises and research institutions. Large enterprises may participate in one-to-one collaborations and partnerships, but the focus must be on results for SMEs.

Activities Not Eligible for Funding

Please note that there may be restrictions regarding aid granted to large enterprises, enterprises covered by the Union’s Emissions Trading System, and enterprises in the primary sector.
Evaluation Criteria
Erhvervsfyrtårn Nord is led by a steering committee consisting of businesses, universities, municipalities, and stakeholders from the business development system. The steering committee’s task is to ensure maximum long-term national support for CO2Vision, with a focus on the overall efforts outlined in the national partnership agreement. In addition to the steering committee, a consortium has been established to handle operational matters. The CO2Vision consortium makes the final decision on which project proposals will be included in the Phase 3 application.
Deadline for submitting project proposals: June 1 at 11:59 p.m. Energy Cluster Denmark will then invite eligible project proposals to a pitch meeting in week 23.

Success fee
Companies in project consortia will be required to pay a success fee, equal to 3% of their individual share of the project budget, upon receiving a grant award. Payment of the success fee follows the project’s first disbursement from the funding provider.
