CCUS Roadmap 2030
The vision is for North Jutland to be an international pioneer region for the green industries of the future and to show the world the significant climate benefits as well as the substantial growth and employment opportunities that can be realized by further developing, integrating, apply, and export new green technologies—including by leveraging digital solutions and establishing relevant infrastructure.
The goal is to capture, utilize, or store CO2 rather than emit it, and to produce the green fuels of the future and other products using captured CO2 and hydrogen.
The CCUS Roadmap 2030 is the result of focused efforts and a series of analyses intended to provide guidance on the direction in which CCUS development should proceed.
This roadmap has taken the first steps toward CCUS by 2030 and has examined the topics of infrastructure, skills, funding, and internationalization, as well as analyzed how the ports of North Jutland can play a role in the CCUS industry in the future.
The roadmap was prepared by Green Hub Denmark on behalf of the CO2Vision consortium. Input was provided by Aalborg University, Energy Cluster Denmark, the EU Office of Northern Denmark, Hydrogen Valley, NIRAS, and the partnership behind the North Jutland CCUS cluster established by the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Utilities in 2022.
Through CO2Vision, the roadmap will be continuously developed and updated to ensure that CCUS efforts are on the right track and that the right tools are packed into the backpack as we move toward 2030.
The key factors for developing CCUS through 2030 lie in legislation, infrastructure, funding (for studies, testing, and demonstration, among other things), expertise, investment decisions, scaling, and implementation.
Overall, the roadmap is intended to provide a more solid foundation for future work on CCUS in North Jutland and Denmark.
