Three years ago, the North Jutland Growth Team rolled up its sleeves. Throughout the fall and early spring, the groundwork was laid. The report was presented in May 2021, and it made clear what the future North Jutland business hub would be.
North Jutland’s next business venture looks set to be CO2 capture, storage, and utilization. CO2Vision, as the consortium is called, is off to a good start, but how do we move beyond the vision and how do we harness the business potential in the future? This requires more participants to join in.
A new business venture?
What exactly is a business adventure? Can a single company experience a business adventure, or does it have to be on a larger scale? Many would say that the IT industry in North Jutland is, to a large extent, built on a business adventure in the field of mobile phone technology.
I would also call that a business adventure, and I see many of the same opportunities when it comes to CO2Vision. The difference lies in the location-specific conditions.
Capture, storage, and utilization will be crucial to achieving the emission reduction targets that have been adopted, and Denmark and North Jutland are well-positioned to play a decisive role. There are significant point sources of emissions, storage capacity, and research expertise available in the region.
Since the growth teams’ report was presented nearly three years ago, an impressive regional consortium has been established, involving a wide range of local stakeholders. This sense of unity and interest was evident in August when CO2Vision hosted a conference, and the results are already becoming apparent through new initiatives.

Next week, all eyes in Europe will be on North Jutland when the European Commission’s EU CCUS Forum 2023 is held at Nordkraft.
More than 450 participants from the worlds of research, business, and government will gather here to discuss future prospects. The conference is a huge feather in our cap and proves that North Jutland is truly on the map.

Not to capture emissions from the chimney, but to spark the interest of more companies. A large number of international companies are already involved in various subprojects, including some of the absolute leaders in their fields—on an international scale.
A crucial step in realizing this potential is for more companies to recognize the opportunities. This applies both to companies that will use the technologies to achieve their own emissions reductions and to companies that will build the necessary infrastructure.
To attract the interest of the average business, it is essential to raise awareness among the people of Northern Jutland.
This is likely to happen more and more as more subprojects are successfully completed, but a new business venture of this caliber in Northern Jutland requires greater awareness among residents and businesses.
The events taking place in North Jutland next week will contribute to this, and I encourage anyone interested to follow the conference virtually or attend some of the events that still have available spots.
