Vesthimmerland – Agricultural innovation, CO2 storage and use

Challenge
How do you create a full-scale plant that is economically responsible to build? And what about the business model? Today, it is considered a prerequisite to be able to build a comprehensive business model behind the investment in a full-scale plant that all value streams around a pyrolysis plant are included in the business model. The technology surrounding the pyrolysis plant itself is being tested, whereas there is a lack of decisive knowledge about value creation in the preceding process up to the pyrolysis process itself.

Solution
The project's goal is to establish a test and demonstration plant for the separation of biomass with a focus on creating the optimal starting point for CO2 storage and use. The ambition is to establish a full-scale pyrolysis plant with a location at Vesthimmerland Biogas. Prior to the establishment of a full-scale plant, the overall business model must be uncovered, so that it is ensured that all value streams in the process are fully optimised.

The project must therefore develop some of the technological potential that exists within the agricultural sector, with the aim of being able to store and utilize CO2, and with the vision of creating a greener agriculture, both locally and nationally, as a catalyst for the overall effort.

Effect
Establishment of a full-scale pyrolysis plant located at Vesthimmerland Biogas.
