CCUS Roadmap 2030

The vision is for North Jutland to be an international pioneering region for the green industry of the future and to show the world the great climate benefits as well as the great growth and employment opportunities that can be reaped by further developing, thinking together, using and exporting new green technologies, i.a. by utilizing digital solutions and establishing relevant infrastructure.

The ambition is to capture, use or store CO2 rather than emitting it and to produce future green fuels and other products with captured CO2 and hydrogen.

CCUS Roadmap 2030 is the result of focused work and a series of analyses, which should give an indication of which direction the development within CCUS should take.

This roadmap has taken the first step towards CCUS in 2030 and has examined the topics of infrastructure, skills, funding, internationalization as well as analysis of how the North Jutland ports can play a role in the CCUS industry going forward.

The roadmap has been prepared by Green Hub Denmark on behalf of the consortium for CO2Vision. Inputs have been given from Aalborg University, Energy Cluster Denmark, Northern Denmark's EU office, Hydrogen Valley, NIRAS as well as the partnership behind the North Jutland CCUS cluster set up by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Supply in 2022.

The roadmap will be continuously developed and updated via CO2Vision, to ensure that the CCUS effort is on the right track and that the right tools are filled in the backpack towards 2030.

The most important factors to be able to develop CCUS towards 2030 lie within legislation, infrastructure, funding (for studies, tests and demonstrations, among others), competences, investment decisions, scaling and implementation.

Overall, the roadmap must provide a more solid foundation for further work with CCUS in North Jutland and Denmark.
