Hobro II – Hydrogen through pipe to CCU

Hobro II – Hydrogen through pipe to CCU

Challenge
CO2 and hydrogen transport through pipes is an important integrator for more CCUS in Denmark, as everything indicates that there will be a need to transport larger quantities of CO2 and hydrogen over longer distances.

Solution
Through technical and economic feasibility studies, this project will clarify the potential and challenges of this form of CO2 and hydrogen transport. The transport will be connected to potential PTX consumers in order to clarify the potential for future pipelines for PtX production in northern Jutland.

Effect
By being able to store up to 10,000 tonnes of hydrogen and then be able to distribute it via pipelines, it becomes possible for connected companies (e.g. industry or ports) to get "green hydrogen on demand", which will provide unprecedented opportunities for the production of green fuels and chemicals , with large positive growth and employment effects as a result.
